Random seed...?
« on: April 13, 2016, 11:37:13 AM »
First off congratulations on another excellent release, and lovely new website.

I was just yesterday in need of a cladding texture, so decided to create the physical cladding in Railclone then render out the relevant passes (diffuse, zdepth, etc) to create the texture.

The other day you did a tutorial on randomizing procedurally generated plants with forest pro - I was wondering if it would be possible to do something similar with railclone. Specifically I would have liked to have had a single cladding panel (turbosmoothed a couple of times) with some noise on the top - obviously this would tile a lot, but if you could change the random seed per panel then it would look fantastic.

Hi,

Thanks for the kind words, we're glad you like the plugins and their new home!

Unfortunately RailClone doesn't (currently) have the same animation sampling tools as Forest Pack. You could however duplicate the cladding panel multiple times, a enter a new seed value for each one. These can then be randomly distributed using RailClone. To get even more variation you could use mirror operators to flip the objects on all 3 axes.

I hope that helps and thanks again!
