wave blades ceiling
« on: December 18, 2017, 04:10:40 PM »
Hello,
I'm trying to reproduce this kind of ceiling :

to simplify things, I thought to repeat a wavy segment and shift it gradually but I can not do it well.
Is railclone capable of this?

Hi,

Thanks for the question.

Please find attached a sample file with a couple of possible solutions. The first one uses an alternating up/down wave segment and creates an offset by adjusting the Left Padding of a segment in the generator's Left input. You could use anything for this, but in the example I've used the sine wave macro included with RailClone 3.

Alternatively, a simpler approach could be to use RailClone just to distribute straight planks and then apply some of Max's native modifiers to get the effect you need. In the attached example I've added the ripple modifier to get the concentric waves pattern. To select the top polygons only I used a Vol Select button and changed to mode to smoothing group. This keeps the entire stack parametric.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any further questions.

All the best,

Paul

Hello Paul,
thank you for your solution, it works nicely.
I did not think I could use a modifier above railclone.
