Well Aligned Handrail on Stairs - Corner Problem
« on: January 12, 2015, 09:52:12 AM »
Okay my goal is to have well aligned Handrails posts on my stairs steps ..
So I draw a spline with many corner points like the following pic .. and It worked as expected ..

But sometimes I need to exclude some corners .. So my idea was "to have "Conditional Operator" with Vertex Rule > Type: Corner .. Then I convert manually the other points to be "Bezier Corner" to be excluded from RC corner Object ..

Original Style look like that:

After Applying "Conditional Operator" .. It didn't work as expected! (Scene Attached)

So My Questions:
First: Why didn't it work as expected?
Second: Is there any other simpler ideas to have my goal?

PS: Excuse My English

Regards,
Mustafa

I want to add another try by "evenly" Rule with "Justify" OFF but it didn't work on all parts ..

Hi Mustafa,

The reason the conditional operator is not working as expected is because the style uses a Fillet Radius value to create the bends on the corners. Unfortunately this overwrites the vertex types assigned to the base spline.

To use the conditional operator to detect vertex types you must set this value to 0.

I'm just preparing a demo file for you to look at that uses the conditional vertex technique you suggest in your first post. I will post in a few minutes.

Many thanks,

Paul

Hi Mustafa,

Please find attached a file that uses Corner vertices to place posts. For ease and in order to get the bevels to work correctly I've split the style in to 3 generators, on each for the glass, handrail and posts.

I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any further questions.

Many thanks,

Paul
