Title: What am I doing wrong here?
Post by: Rio on February 14, 2023, 03:26:00 PM
I'm trying to create a facade that features roughly 500mm 'fins and apertures for windows. The windows need to be randomly offset, and I want to randomly scale the Z dimension of the fins, but keep that scaling constant on each fin from top to bottom of the facade.

I've tried sizing this 2S array to just one unit and feeding it in to a 2S array but it makes the layout go screwy for some reason.

Any other way I just cannot get the random scaling to stay constant between floors i.e. no breaks in the fins.

Realised I was over-complicating things (as usual), but I still can't get the scale to sync between levels

Hi,

Please take a look at the attached. There's not actually a way to control the randomisation across rows in an A2S Generator so instead I've created the effect using one L1S array nested inside another.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any further questions.

Cheers!

Paul

Nice one thanks, I had a feeling that was the case but I had only tried a 2D array in a 1d array and it went very screwy. Thanks again I'll take a look tomorrow

I had a look, makes total sense now!

Turns out I had to add windows in the facade (I was using the architects model previously). So I'm guessing this is going to be a lot harder to replicate as I have windows crossing over 1x, 2x and 3x cladding units
