Window with RC Slice
« on: November 24, 2025, 04:38:10 pm »
Hey,

I’m trying to create a parametric window using RailClone and the RC Slice modifier, but I’m having trouble assigning all the Slice pieces to the correct slots.
For example, where should I input the X Evenly Top/Bottom segment?

For maximum flexibilty is it possible to add the Y Corner segment so the window can be divided in both directions (see right Window)?

Any help, or an example file would be greatly appreciated.
This would also be great to have as a default macro included with RailClone.

Thanks!
Best,
Gerald

Hi Gerald,

The A2S with Intersections macro is provided to simplify the process of connecting all these Segments and should be suitable for this kind of task. You can also take inspiration from our Windows styles, which can be adapted / simplified.

I hope this helps.

Hey,

thanks for the reply. I managed to make a version with X Evenly Segments.
Am I correct to assume it is not possible to add a divider (X Corner)  at every vertex location with the A2S, like seen in my screenshot?

Best,
Gerald

I’m guessing you’re using the Extend X/Y Size to Area feature, correct? In that case, these vertices will be ignored because the X/Y Corner Inputs expect their vertices to come from the X/Y Spline Inputs. If you ‘split’ the spline and use X & Y Spline inputs instead, you should be able to use those vertices. I hope this helps.

Hi Gerald,
Please check my post:
https://forum.itoosoft.com/railclone-pro/basic-window-generator-with-some-advanced-parameters/
and test my macro for the basic window generator.
I can add or modify any feature you will need.

Thanks for your replies.

@Michal
I was really hoping for a more flexible solution. I need this RC style mainly for exterior renderings, where I have a lot of windows at different heights, so splitting the X/Y spline is unfortunately not an option.

@Dragan
Thanks for the link to the generator. It looks really cool and has a lot of great features, but I don’t think it really fits my needs.

Basically, I only have three elements: Windows, Fixed Frames, and Doors. This is pretty easy with RailClone, where each one is a rectangle with an ID of 1-3.
I’m not 100% satisfied with this solution because the divider has the wrong width (see screenshot).

If anyone has a good solution for this, I’d be really happy to hear it.
