question with y-evenly
« on: December 04, 2013, 04:45:29 PM »
hello,

we are new to railclone and try to make a facade that we already constructed manually before.it´s the upper part of the facade. the lower part i will do with another RC-composition.
on the picture you can see on the left side how it should look, and on the right side you can see the result of railclone as i get it done.
so what my problem is, that i don´t get the sides fixed. the y-evenly always gets complete to the edge.it shoul´d stop at the right/left side object...

any tips to fix this?

thanks for help

Please, be sure that Y Evenly->Extend to Side is off.

next question is to the down part.

if i pick the x-evenly the default-object glass dissappears.
also i cannot get the x-evenly-colums to the sides where i want them to be. see the facade on the left for how it shoul´d look.

here again a maxfile attached

thanks again for looking in. i´m very interested in the solutions. i think for you it´s maybe a klick away ;-)

thanks carlos

All segments in a same row should have the same height, if not there is no way to fit them. In the first scene, Y Evenly is larger than Left/Right Sides. That's the problem.

I've attached a variation using two Sequences on Y, instead using Evenly. I also removed the Y Spline, and replaced it by Generator->Y Size and Generator->X Rotation=90. In this way is simpler to set the building's height.

Same problem with the X Evenly scene: all segments must have the same height.

hello carlos,

i don´t want to do it over sequences, because it´s no regular sequence !   behind the y-evenly there are the floors and i want to have the flexibility of the y-evenly. and for further projects with other floor-heights

so if i modify the objects to the same height i don´t get the right result. either i need a y-evenly to extend to the edge but with staying fixed default axis, or i woul´d need an y-evenly object for the sides !

this is i think not possible to do...maybe you say other.

An alternative solution is to use two generators, so each one may have different segment's heights.

Please, see the attached scene. In the first generator i've used a empty segment (with padding), to create the column's gap. Same procedure may be used for the main scene.

Please, see my previous scene. The multiple generators solution may be applied for #5 and #6.
It's not possible to customize the side piece of a Y Evenly row (in this case it must have different height), so the idea is to "overlap" multiple arrays in a same position using several generators.
