Title: x rotation
Post by: JI5496 on February 28, 2017, 05:03:18 PM
Hello!

I have the following problem:

2 curved splines - one with an offset of the other - between those 2 I want to span simple woodplanks.
I now also have to rotate the planks to make up for the offset of the second spline but railclone seems
to use the curves normals when using x rotation - is there a way to rotate around the world axis?
please see attached image (the green object is what i am trying to achive - the blue one is the railclone object)
I have also attached the max file.

also is this the optimal solution for this problem or is there a better way?

thank you!

Hi,

As mentioned in this "Make an object span two splines (http://forum.itoosoft.com/index.php?topic=2727.msg10373#msg10373)" related thread: "Unfortunately this is a tricky problem to solve at the moment. Ideally we would add a new generator that uses two parallel splines, this is already on our to-do list but there are some technical issues that must be ironed out before we can implement it in a release."

In your case a possible solution might to be rotate the RC object, apply the Deform - Vertical mode and to align it with the other spline use the Generator's X Rotation value.

Attaching a modified scene. Hope that helps a bit.

Best regards,
