Title: xsplineposition problem

I am following the following tutorial.

But I get a strange result as below.

What is the problem?

Hi. Welcome to the forum.

As a general advice- You will get much faster and correct answer if You provide a max file. Best if You downgrade it to lowest max version possible so more people can open it.
It is impossible to diagnose problems from JPG screen-grabs alone.

The only setting You missed to change is generators Default Mode. Set it to Adaptive:
