"Instanciate" doesn't maintain layers
« on: November 27, 2012, 12:34:33 PM »
Hi again,

I am currently instanciating all my railclone objects, which will later be splitted into multiple max files for ease of management and performance. So i have created layers accordingly.

While instanciating though, all the instanced mesh is moving to the default layer.Instancing per layer basis will do the work, just wanted to clarify if it is somehow possible to maintain existing layers while instanciating.

Thanks.

No, unfortunately it is not possible using the current release. I add your suggestion to the wishlist.

I am not sure why it's happening, but after instanciating some of the instaced objects are out of place.

Is this a pre-existing issue or something wrong with my railclone parameters.

Please, if possible send us a test scene. We will take a look to it.

There is another issue related to instancing. It is not maintaining the Randomizing of materials. All the instances are having one material.

Unfortunately it is not possible to keep the material randomizing, because it is done at render time by the RailClone shader.

In this case, the only way is collapsing RailClone to an editable mesh.
