Ship's bridge, Inclined/tapered geometry
« on: February 25, 2011, 05:36:25 PM »
I'm trying to use Railclone to parametrically generate the brige of a ship. A ship's bridge almost always has inclined windows. (Google image search for 'ship bridge')

A difficulty I encountered is generating the corner posts. The problem is that the inclination and length is different than the posts on the straight sections. Even more; the inclination and length depend on the angle of the corner of the spline (see attached images).

Is there a way to automatically adjust the geometry of the corners so as to compensate for the varying inclination and length?

Another application of this would be eg. the edge of a helideck or certain types of fencing with bent poles.

No sorry, i just tried some ideas but it's not possible. The inclination of each corner depends of the intersection of the bevel, but this angle is not a value that we have available in the plugin.

You should to adjust the vertices, editing the resulting mesh.
