couple of small issues with RC
« on: December 04, 2011, 01:03:23 PM »
Hello,
I have a simple section and a curved path assigned to RC. At the start of the object there are some gaps on the bended object:

The base object is placed at center:

the wire:

The other problem I have occurs at the other end of the spline segment:

the object is not closed. If I uncheck the "slice" param it's solved, but of course the object doesn't end in the right place.

I'm sure it's my fault, but I'm starting to work with the plugin at this moment.

Regards

For the first issue, please send us a test scene. I need to take a closer look to it.

Regarding the open mesh, RailClone doesn't cap the slices. For this case, i suggest to use a custom piece for the object's end. You can even use the same mesh, but modifying the alignment to adjust the pieces over the spline's end. In this way:

First of all, thanks for your fast response, I didn't expect an answer today.

The first problem is now solved (not sure how has been solved). I have changed the spline a bit, and also the last vertices are now bezier corner instead of bezier. The base object is now an editable poly, converted from line+extrude+UVW mod. Sorry, I can't reproduce the issue with the original base object (a saved copy), so must be the spline, but I don't the previous version. If you still want the scene I'll send you. Anyway, if the issue comes back, I'll save the scene in order to send you.

Thanks for your help and sorry for the false alarm. I'll apply your solution to the second problem.

It's here again!

I've included the object (spline, segment and RC object)

It seems a problem with the geometry shader. Please, turn off temporarily the "Display->VRay/Mental Ray shader" parameter, that must solve the problem. We are working to isolate the bug.
