RC v3 Beta
« on: February 08, 2017, 10:32:19 AM »
More and more often we can see You referencing new features, and we want to start playing with those !

When can we expect new beta?

Hi Rokas,

I'm afraid we don't have an exact date for the RC 3 beta yet, though it should be soon. We are making some changes to the way that libraries are downloaded and installed, but once that is done we'll release it.

Cheers,

Paul.

Hi, the RailClone build is practically ready for first beta. But we are working on a new system to download libraries and extra packages, which is taking more time than expected.
I hope everything is ready within next weeks.

Thanks for you patience. We are anxious as well to release it. :)

I'm sorry but we prefer to not public release notes until the beta build is ready. Some features would be added or removed on last minute.

Thanks,

We know, but is not the same to comment in a public event with a limited audience, to post in the forum.
If we make changes about what Paul said in the event, nothing happens. But if we post now the release notes, someone would complain if not everything is available in the release.

Some features are known because we commented it in other posts: macros, roofing options, improved mapping, style linking, etc. But a detailed list is not available yet.

Thanks for your understanding. We are making our best effort to release first beta as soon as possible.

Hi, i'm pleased to announce the first beta of RC3 is available.

Since the new package manager is not ready yet, we have decided to release the plugin already with the standard content.
We'll include this software and new libraries in a next beta.

Please, read carefully the (huge) release notes. There are several important changes.

Enjoy it !

hi..   great announcement..

i am unluckyly not able to install the beta allready in my company...    admins would kill me..  but are there allready maybe some more example screenshots. ?  i am very courious, what possibilities are opened this way..

Especially i would like to see what options now are possible with the macro... node..      anything comparable maybe to rhino  grasshopper or para 3d ?  a little bit maybe ?  please...

Hi, The Macro node is a way to combine multiple nodes into a single macro. For example, this is the graph from a tutorial that extracts individual bricks from a wall texture.

It's a cool trick, but for most people this was too advanced to use day-to-day and was a lot of nodes to understand. What if we could collapse that to a single node with a simple input, output and some parameters though? It would be easier to manage and like adding a new feature to RalClone using just the subset of nodes that users already use.

That's what the new Macro feature is for. You can combine multiple nodes to make whole new functions and generators, but using the same nodes and principles that you are already familiar with. It has the ability to make adding complex node trees to graphs much easier so you can increase the complexity of your graphs in a way that is much easier to understand and use. Here's how the graph above looks once converted to a macro. It's much easier to understand and edit.

I hope that clears it up a bit.

Cheers,

Paul

Ah that's a welcome addition!

edit: oh no 2010/2011 support. bah. Understandable, that is like 6 years old now, but we're stuck on this due to other needed plugins :(
