RC5.0.2b style editor chinese character
« on: October 28, 2021, 01:59:57 PM »
The node in the RC5.0.2b style editor still does not support Chinese characters. When the node uses Chinese and saves the file, 3dsmax crashes when the file is opened again, and the file cannot be opened anyway.

You can see in the attachment the sample style i used.

Please, send us a sample scene to check it.

Thanks for the files.
I can open your scene without problems here, both in Max 2019 and 2022, using Windows 10.

I suspect it may be some incompatibility with Windows 11, probably handling Unicode strings from Qt5 (the C++ libraries used for Style Editor)
I'm afraid there is not much we can done, because Windows 11 is not officially supported by Autodesk for 3DS Max (even for Max 2022).

At some time Autodesk will upgrade their libraries to support Windows 11, and we'll do the same. But probably that will occur for Max 2023 and above.

I wonder if it is possible that RC5 is not compatible with the Chinese version of Windows, I tried the same operation at another friend's place and encountered that the max file could not be opened. He was using the Chinese version of windows10

When I asked about this issue in the 3dsmax test forum, they said "Code is blowing up in railclonepro.dlo. They need to be looking at this....", I don’t know what it means, you can open this file because you use English version of Windows, but the Chinese version of Windows I am using cannot be opened. Another friend also helped me prove this problem. I think this is the reason for the question.

If it crashes with Windows 10 as well, that makes a difference.

Please send us the minidump generated on crash. That may help us to identify the problem.
If not, we'll try to test it on a Chinese Windows 10.

I am using the Chinese version of Windows 11. When I adjust the system locale to English, the file can be opened correctly, but when the system locale is adjusted to Chinese, opening the file will cause a 3dsmax error. When the system locale is adjusted to English, it will cause some garbled errors in some Chinese software, so I can't adjust the system locale to English, hoping to fix this error.

I think this has nothing to do with Windows10 or Windows11, it should be related to the language version of the system。
