Thanks but I can't open the max file
Sorry about that

On the other hand, it would be nice to have access to all these resources ( macro/script, etc) in a specific place... just a thought  :)

Hi,

You can find the sample scene (IvyPreset.max) containing the Ivy Macro & Ivy Branch Maker macros in the corresponding Tutorial Files link. I hope that helps.

Hello

Could I have the macros from this tutorial, please?

Thank you very much for all your great help !

Hi,

I would suggest you check this closely related post, which includes a sample scene that uses three colors (in your case, the third one would be the same as the first one). For more complex gradients (it might be tricky to define these with an expression), you can use the RailClone Color map. I hope that helps.

RailClone Pro (*) / Gradient probability for different pattern of gradient
« Last post by Mannii RC on April 21, 2024, 07:08:17 AM »
Hey there!
I have really enjoyed using Railclone.
From this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOt4VJDIH5I&)
QUICK TIP: Creating gradient probability effects in 3ds Max and RailClone (intermeditate)

I understood everything. Great tutorial!
However, I need to make another pattern where kind of go back to the original color as well

so, from yellow, fading to blue, then fade back to yellow.

something like this : https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-vector-seamless-halftone-honeycomb-gradient-pattern-125846122.html

Right now, I'm creating a workaround by just chop the building in half and it fades up and down, which is very not ideal.

If there's a way to do this, please give me some guide.

Next question on the lower priority, but relating to the topic.
What if I want different type of gradient?
For example (https://www.shutterstock.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2018/05/Gradient-Tool-Types.jpg)
Is there a possibility to do these?

Hi,

Thank you for reporting this issue. With your help, I've been able to reproduce this behavior as well. As you have pointed out, scale values are not influenced by the Scale Falloff feature, although the localTM and finalTM values are correct. This will need to be investigated in more depth by our main developers, and hopefully, it will be something that can be fixed soon.

Forest Pro (*) / Problem with exporting Scale coordinates with Forest Exporter
« Last post by Olstatt on April 19, 2024, 05:28:22 AM »
Hey team,

I found an issue with exporting the correct scale coordinates with the Forest Exporter into an XML file.
It seems that it exports correctly when I have the Random scale enabled under the Transform tab. But if I'm using just the Falloff Scale functions (under the areas tab) then these are not registered in the XML file.
Is it possible to fix this?

Thank you.

Forest Pro (*) / Re: Unable to Determine Object Names
« Last post by leejk on April 18, 2024, 02:28:03 PM »
Hello,

Thank you for response. I do see a tooltip in the geometry list, but there is still a problem that maybe I did not explain correctly. If the Name field for the geometry gets changed to something else, then the gemometry list name gets changed to match that. However the Custom Object field still uses the original name of the object in the scene, but if it is a long name like I mentioned before, then there is no tooltip shown when you hover over it. And there is no way to see which object in the scene it is referencing. So some UI cleanup/fix there could be done. A tooltip though would solve the issue and this was probably the original design intent anyway by developers.

Regarding the copy/paste issue, the Interface area in the docs should be updated to explain that further. I looked again this morning and it is explained a little better in the Procedures area.

Thanks for the helpful tips! I was also able to get the desired look but using an FFD modifier.

Hi,

Unfortunately, the RailClone plug-in cannot "unevenly scale" the used segment. However, you can use shorter segments and apply, for example, the Vertex Weld modifier to join them. Another possibility would be to directly adjust the base spline to achieve the desired shape (for example, with the help of the Wave modifier) and use that one for the other part with the RailClone plug-in and the inner part with the usual spline modeling techniques. Please find attached both approaches applied to your provided scene. I hope that helps.
