I was able to simplify the scene. Here is the 3ds Max 2024 file with problematic FP attached.

Hi,

I have just done some tests with Forest Pack 8.2.6, but so far, I cannot reproduce the reported problem - it seems to work just fine in my quick tests. Please find attached the sample scene (240404_limitToVisibilityMax_iToo.max). If possible, feel free to send us your scene - preferably simplified and containing only the problematic object(s) - ideally, if you can reproduce it on a minimal scene, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

I have a ForestPack setup for the grass. I have Limit to visibility enabled. And when I have it enabled I cannot control display count in viewport. I have 2.8M particles visible in viewport, even if I set display count to 500. I have density 100 pixels for 15 meters. Display count starts to work when I change density from 15 meters to 20 meters and more. But I need it at 15 meters. It means I have to suffer from slow viewport update with all 2.8M particles visible. I have no idea why it works is such a weird way. I need a help, please.

Forest Pro (*) / Re: Forest pro 8.2.6 UI startup so slow!

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that you're facing these troubles. Would you mind specifying your current hardware configuration? Some CPUs (for example, we are aware of some versions of Threadrippers) were facing this kind of problem. Please feel free to check this article to see if that might help you.

Let me mention, that you can have visible just some roll-outs (these you are frequently using) - you can edit the Global Settings from the General rollout as desired (attaching screen-shot) to check if that helps.

Thanks in advance for any further comments on this issue.

Best regards,

Will this interface ever be updated with the latest 3dsmax UI performance improvements. It can take 10 seconds at least for the interface to appear.

Please find attached the modified scene (240403_ForestDispCoronaDistance_iToo.max) when I've again used the approach mentioned above. Just let me mention that Forest's gizmo should be located in the center of 3ds Max's world coordinates to get the CoronaDistance map to work properly. I hope that helps.

Hello Michal,

I've just send the mail with the scene attached.
You'll just have to put yourself in the camera view, scroll through the frames (around frame 200 you will already see the problem), and hit render with the motion blur. Image attached for what you should obtain.

The green box goes at the same speed as the pink ones in the FP (the green ones go even faster than the pink).

I'm using Vray 6 update 1.2, Forest Pro 7.4.3, 3dsMax 2023 and Tyflow for the particles.

If you need anything else, don't hesitate. I hope i'm the one making a mistake.

Thank you so much for your help,

Hi,

I've just done some tests with Forest Pack 8.2.6 & V-Ray 6 Update 2, but so far, I can't reproduce the reported problem. The motion blur amount applied to Forest items is identical to the "Shape Instances" within the PF Source (values in the VRayVelocity Render Element correspond between these objects). If you can reproduce it on a minimal scene, which you can send us, that would be great. Thanks in advance.
