Using Forest Lite and Forest Pro Together
« on: December 19, 2012, 07:04:41 AM »
Hello,
We purchased 1 license for Forest Pro and it renders fine after Installation of the Slave Mode on other machines.
However, after that we are not able to use the Forest Lite to create the simple distribution geometry.
On other side, machines With Forest Lite can not render the Forest Pro max scenes as slaves.

Is that possible to make stations with Forest Lite to be the part of slave rendering for Forest Pro scenes?

Thank you

Is not possible to mix Forest Pack Lite and Pro in the same render farm. The plugin version and 3dsmax architecture (x32 or x64) must match on all nodes.

You will need to update all render nodes, the Forest Pack Pro installer includes a mode specifically for this propourse that doesn't need any license code. There is not limitation in the number of nodes that can be installed.

Thank you for your quick reply.
In our case there are not render farm computers but regular workstations with people working on them. From time to time modellers have a need to create simple vegetation for the scene and using the Forest Life is enough for this purpose.
At the same time these computers can be used as render nodes for big scenes with Forest Pro set ups and in this case we installed render slave mode on them bit now designers can not use Forest Lite for small projects.
The only way I see how to use both versions is switching between ForestPackPro.dlo with ForestPackLite.dlo depending on our need. But id did not look convenient and I hope may be you know the better way how to still keep the Forest lite on the station for small projects but use it as a render node for Forest Pro when it is necessary.
Thank you again!

Forest Pro can render the Lite scenes, and it does not require a license. If you can switch automatically to the Pro dlo before rendering (for example using a windows script), it should work.

Instead for editing scenes, Lite and Pro uses different configurations and registry keys, in this case it is necessary to reinstall the package using the setup program.
