Any compatibility issues between FP 4.1 and 4.3.7?
« on: March 27, 2015, 05:39:59 PM »
I'm sharing a file with a client and am using FP 4.3.7. He has some variety of FP 4.1 and is having a lot of issues rendering. I supplied him with my file archive. I have no issues on my end, it renders perfectly. He's getting crashes, memory spikes/leaks, etc. Backburner just won't render it but locally he has some limited success. I'm not exactly sure as I'm not looking over his shoulder but I am trying to help diagnose.

Does anyone know if there would be any issues pertaining to trying to render a file made with FP 4.3.7 in an older 4.1 release?

Hi,

Actually, we can't guarantee full compatibility with previous releases as many new features were introduced and several bugs fixed. Generally, we always recommend to use the latest version released - Forest Pack Pro 4.3.7.

To prevent similar troubles, I would suggest you to convert your Forest objects into instances. Than it'll be possible to use that scene even on computers without Forest Pack installed. The conversion could be done by using very powerful tool which is part of Forest Pack Pro called Forest Tools. This allows you export your scattered geometry as instances. It can be found it under Utilities panel - More ... - Forest Tools. Please check detailed information about it in our on-line reference guide.

Best regards,
