Area Spline not being imported with the preset
« on: November 26, 2023, 02:18:14 AM »
Hi,

I created a Library preset out of a .max file containing one Forest object.

But when I use it on an empty scene, it doesn't work as expected. Here is why:

_ in the Library preset .max file, there's a spline in the 'Areas' section of the Forest object, and this spline isn't imported when I use the preset in another scene.

So my question is: is there a way to make the spline being part of the preset?

Thanks a lot for your help,

Michal Karmazín

Hi,

I'm afraid, that objects used within Surface / Spline / Object Areas aren't stored in the preset. An easy way would be to use a slightly different workflow - Merge the desired objects into a newly created scene. This way, you can easily double-check that you are merging all Forest object components just by selecting the desired Forest object(s). Having Display Influences and Select Influences selected in the Merge window will also bring the objects needed to rebuild the Forest object to your new scene.

I hope that helps.

Best regards,

I use copy paste object script. You can select only FP object and script copy all corresponding objects too.
