Display -> Viewport not working correctly

I have many scattered objects of grass. For some reason it doesn't display correctly I cannot reduce the amount of objects in the viewport no matter what I try, "Max Items" I put all the way down to 5 and it still shows them all.  I noticed also if I up the destination units from 70 to 100 all objects in viewport disappear. Everything renders fine though.

Are you adjusting the Display - Viewport - Max items value (there is a similar value under Display - Render - Max items)? Would you mind to specify your configuration (which 3ds max / Forest Pack / renderer releases are you using)? Thanks in advance.

I'm adjusting under display - viewport - max items.  using Max 2017 & FP 5.2.0

I'm having exactly the same problem in 2021 so I'm guessing it is meant to be this way or was never fixed. Any help appreciated.

If possible, feel free to send us your scene - preferably simplified and containing only the problematic object(s) - ideally, if you can reproduce it on a minimal scene, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
