Family Tag in Forest & RC Libraries

Hi,

Perhaps I missed it in the documentation or this forum.
In both the Forest and RC libraries, I'm trying to see where the 'Family' Taxonomy is used.

Does it actually get used anywhere or is it just a blank additional label that the user can add?

As far as I can tell it's not included in any searches either but as I say maybe I've missed something.
Can anyone explain how or why that tag is used?

So If we use it for our own internal custom libraries as an additional descriptor it won't get in the way of anything Forest or RC are using it for and if not, is it likely to be around for a while? i.e. no plans to discontinue it anytime soon?
