Forest Material Color Tint and Color Correction - problems
« on: September 27, 2024, 06:44:33 PM »
I use several trees form laubwerk in my project and wanted to change saturation and color tint.
I scattered them via Forest.

But i get strange results. sometimes it workes, sometimes not at all. and sometime it is not possible to change it back to original color - the trees stay tinted.

i tried a lot of things. used "optimize material".

some trees work, some don´t change at all. another time all of them work.

Now i had a look in the slate material editor and realized that on some trees "optimize material" inserted forest color and on some not.

I work with max 2024 and vray.

Do you have any idea what i could do?

Thank you

Hi,

When using the Material Optimizer tool (though you can always add the Forest Color manually), ensure that the Material is assigned to the items in the Geometry > Material slot.

I hope that helps.

sorry, but i didn´t really get you...

when i use material optimizer, it doesn´t add Forest color to the materials. i understood that Forest does that automatically for all the geometry in the selected forest, when i use material optimizer? did i get that wrong?

It depends on whether the items are using the material assigned to the Material slot or the material directly assigned to the geometry being used. When loaded from the library, the material is assigned automatically. However, if you select it from the scene and no material is assigned under Forest's Geometry > Material, the Forest object will use the material directly from the Custom Object(s).

In case of any further troubles with it, please feel free to send us the scene (preferably simplified and including only the problematic object(s)) so we can take a closer look. Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

for my workflow i indeed prefer selecting the trees from scene. and somehow materials get lost in automatic FP Material.

So i have manually assign the material in Geometry>material as soon as i select the tree from scene?
and do i have to "optimize material" for every single geometry then?

I try to test it here all the time but it´s pretty time consuming

after "optimiz material" again forest is mixing all materials up and assign the wrong material to the geometry so at the end it is totally wrong

today i completely reinstalled forest. startet a new file. Lauberk trees per forest library. only one tree (and therefore only no duplicated material)

but when i want to optimize material it only adds forest material to the first part of the first tree.

So please, can you help me?

I really don´t understand whats wrong and i am on a project, where i need it.
