Forest objects not rendering Forest objects.
« on: August 09, 2023, 02:59:19 PM »
I have recently updated my forest pack to the latest version but have encountered an issue. I cannot render forest objects that are using another forest object to scatter. I can see the scattered objects in my viewport and if I swap out the mesh for a proxy object under render, proxy in display settings the geometry renders in the the right positions. This is really frustrating as its for a client and the software is not preforming the previous version worked fine. Also camera clipping is not on. Plus the forest object I am trying to scatter is rendering correctly and all my other forest objects that have standard geometry loaded in render correctly. I am getting no errors in the forest lister all geo is getting calculated.

Is this a known issue ?

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear, you're facing these troubles. Though Forest objects can be nested, instancing is applied only on the "top-level". Any "inner objects" are converted to a mesh and depending on the render engine (and its release), the Render Mode for used "nested object(s)" should be changed from Automatic to Meshes under the Display roll-out. That should help.

Best regards,

Thanks Michal

After rolling back Corona render to version nine it fixed the issue and I was able to render. Is this something that needs to be addressed on itoo's end or the Corona teams ? Switching from automatic to meshes was not an option due to the face counts.

Thanks
