Forest Pack VPN Help

Morning All,

we have 3 forest pack licenses and 1 rail clone with a few seats. We have setup a VPN to access them as I am remote from home. Rail clone works absolutely fine. No problems.

Forest pack however cannot obtain a license. getting a winsock error 11001.

does anyone have experience with this. we did try an a idea from a similar  query https://forum.itoosoft.com/forest-pro-(*)/license-server-and-vpn/msg4479/#msg4479

but none of that has worked.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rob,

Upon the WSAHOST_NOT_FOUND 11001 Host not found (No such host is known. The name is not an official hostname or alias, or it cannot be found in the database(s) being queried. This error may also be returned for protocol and service queries, and means that the specified name could not be found in the relevant database.) error you get, it looks like a connection problem.

I would suggest you to set the hostname of the licensing server instead of using the IP address or finding it automatically. This can be done by using the "Change License Mode" wizard after setting the network license mode in the Configure the Network License window.

hi thanks for coming back to me.

We currently have it set to the license server name and port 16720 not the IP address...

ive tried instead of the PC name changing it to the Ip. and that has worked. So thankyou for your reply!
