FP 8.2.2, Corona 10 RC1 and Forest Sets
« on: June 13, 2023, 03:09:33 PM »
Hi All,
I am trying to setup a chair and table system for a restaurant project.
I will depict the steps that i followed.
I imported a chair model, converted it into corona proxy, made 4 instances of it, rotated them at 90 degrees from the center and grouped them.
Then i created a Forest set and included that group in that set.
Then i created a line, created FFP, included spline as a path distribution mode and selected Forest set as geometry.
It shows the distribution as boxes in the viewport but in render it is blank.
Is this a problem from my end, am I doing something wrong or is such a setup not supported yet with FPP.

Attaching the screen shot and the 3dsmax file.

Software used : 3dsmax 2020, FPP 8.2.2, Corona 10 RC1

Hi,

I’m afraid, that as mentioned in our documentation: “Groups, ForestLOD, and Forest objects are not supported as items at present.” You should consider a bit different setup – there’s no need to use the ForestSet for these purposes – using directly the Group as the Custom Object should do the job.

Best regards,

Hi Michal,
I finally made the setup as you suggested discarding Forest sets and it worked.
Just wanted to ask that can this type of setup (Forest sets) be used in such a situation or might be a bit more complex one and will that be available in future.

Thanks for the help once again.
