FP Instances on Uneven Ground
« on: January 16, 2025, 03:59:32 AM »
Ive usually gotten lucky with this issue due to scattering grass most of the time but what could be done with scattered gravel that seems to be first grouped together in the manner of a roof shingle shape and then distributed. I understand that this lowers the resource load but unfortunately on surfaces that undulate, this creates a problem shown in my image. Im attaching the end result render and also a screenshot of the underlying ground surface.

Hi,

These presets use "patches" because they are designed to cover larger areas. For the bundled Gravel presets, you'll find two versions for each type. The Large Areas version includes larger patches, ideal for covering extensive surfaces, while the Detail version consists of significantly smaller chunks, which are likely better suited to your scenario. For Mulch presets, if you'd rather not adjust the scale directly, you can reduce the objects' diameter instead. For example, applying a Mesh Select and DeleteMesh modifier allows you to achieve this while maintaining a fully parametric workflow.

I hope that helps.

Best regards

Dustin
