OCIO Color Management - Error
« on: April 13, 2023, 03:29:12 AM »
Hello, thank you for updating the latest versions of FP and RC to work with Max 2024. In testing today I discovered an error.

When switching Max's color management mode from Gamma Workflow to OCIO with ACES all things run as expected. I can render a scene with the the correct color management no problem.

If I select a forest object or create a new one it automatically switches the color management profile to "unmanaged". I've been able to recreate this with new and old files. I can work with the forest object and do what is needed and then change the color management back to OCIO and everything will be fine. This is not ideal when accessing the forest object multiple times, I'm sure there is just an error in the code causing the color management profile to reset when selecting the forest pack object. No other feature in the new version of max creates this situation.

This can be recreated doing the following steps.

1. Open preferences, color management, change from gamma to OCIO.
2. add forest pack object to scene.
3. color management will automatically reset to "unassigned".

When set to Gamma workflow nothing happens. So its just with OCIO.

This was also tested with Rail Clone and no issue. Just Porest Pack.

Hi,

Big thanks for reporting it. We'll analyze this issue (in 3ds max 2024 there are changes in the Color Management) - it'll need to be investigated more in deep by our main developers. Thanks for your feedback, it's very important to us.

Best regards,
