grass and light
« on: February 09, 2010, 01:40:40 PM »
Hello,
i I don't understand why my vraysun doesn't light my grass uniformly. The camera is on the north and the vraysun on the south-west so i don't have the sun in my back.

Are you using billboards ?  Probably since the planes are rotated in different angles to face the camera, the angle respect to the light changes too.

If you upload a stripped scene here, we can try to adjust it.

Thanks for your help, appreciate your feedback.
I'm not using billboards but custom object.
I attach my scene with this reply.

Although you are using a custom object, it works as a billboard. From the top viewport, you can see how the sun is hitting the items from different angles, and therefore the illumination changes.

To fix it, you can add some fake lights. As instance, in the attached image, i've created a omni light at north (90 degrees from the sun), Include->Illumination for grass objects and multiplier by 10.

For sure there must be other approachs, the trick is to make the illumination over the grass independent of light's angle.

hello,
Thank you for your answer, i've already tried this method but it "wash" the shadow too. Perhaps should i bend my  custom object to make it more circular in order to catch more light from the sun.

Anyway thank's again !
