Is possible to assign different forest color per forest object
« on: December 15, 2011, 10:59:20 AM »
I'll try to explain better.

I have a tree used by several forest objects with a normal material in leaves (A&D). Only in one of the forest objects I want to assign a forest color to the leaves. Can I use a modified material with forest color for this forest object? I'm trying to assign to it, but seem that it always is coming back to the original material from source object.

What I'm doing wrong?

Regards

EDIT: Forest color doesn't work at all for me. Problem updated on beta area: http://www.itoosoft.com/forum/index.php?topic=996.0

In Mental Ray there is a limitation about using different materials for a same custom object:

You can assign the materials in the Geometry List, but only is used one of them. This is an old issue that we should had solved some time ago, but the solution is not easy because the way that Mental Ray works. If you need to use several materials, it is better to create a copy of the custom object.

Anyways, in this case there is an easiest fix. You can use a unique material, apply Forest Color to it, and enable the Tint options in the Forest object (Material rollout), instead of Forest Color (leaving off the Override checkbox).
