Large areas of grass - always drives me crazy!
« on: March 01, 2018, 03:23:14 PM »
I rarely use ForestPro for grass, mainly for two reasons: 1) it can often be quicker to create the grass in post (on images at any rate), and 2) whenever I use a preset for grass, I usually get issues.

I am working on an animation at the moment, and an area of 3D grass could be useful, so I thought I would try - again - the preset for Wildgrass 01 (large). You can see in my viewport that the density appears OK, but when I render, it looks nothing like as dense. Shouldn't the presets just work without too much modification?

Can you let me know the best way to address this please?

Kind Regards,
Rich

First thing to try is delete forest pack object, reset ground object xform and reapply forest pack.
If that doesn`t help, please attach Your scene, so we can look what exactly goes on.

P.S.
Yes, presets should work without any modifications.

Hi Richard,

Sorry to hear you're facing these troubles. Do you get any warning message (for example in the General - Forest Stats window)? As it's really hard to say just from provided screen-shot what might be causing it, would you mind to send us your scene to check it here? Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Hi all and thanks for the response. I have moved on from this issue now (using texture maps instead) but when I next try I will send over a file for checking. Interesting to know that it should just work without any mods though. I must be doing something wrong...
