Licenses from any diferent locations
« on: January 03, 2024, 10:42:51 AM »
Hello,
I'm not certain about the correct approach. We have one account with several FP and RC licenses, each with different serial numbers and quantities. Previously, all these licenses were used in a single network at our office, where our local server managed the distribution of licenses to workstations in the studio. However, we are now required to relocate two of our workstations to another country. This raises the question of how to appropriately use our licenses on these computers. Should we configure them to connect to our main server (located at our studio), or do we need to install an individual License Server on each workstation and manually add licenses? Will the License Server automatically check for available licenses at both the Studio and our local workstation, and keep track of how many licenses are free?

Hi Andrei,

If you have a permanent network connection between these locations (ideally a VPN), a good option would be to have a centralized license server for both locations with all your licenses. This way, you can access any network license from any location. Please note that the license server uses port 16720 by default, so it should be accessible (preferably by using a secure VPN connection, although it's not necessary).

I hope that helps.

Best regards,

Andrei

we have actually 2 ways, we have direst RDP connections and RDP through VPN, to connect other worsktations in studio. Can we use VPN only for Licensisng FP and Rc on our local workstations, now for all sysyem? And do ypu have any instrudtion how to properly set-up this? And in case if there is no connection to our studio server, how we can use licenses?

You should open port 16720 on both sides - it has to be open for both TCP and UDP (for example, Windows Firewall/anti-virus software could be blocking the connection for this port). If that would be problematic, you can set up another local licensing server and "migrate" some of your licenses.

Best regards,
