Material Optimzer

Newbie here.

Not having any luck converting stand materials to Corona using the material optimizer.

The object is selected and I've run the tool in the Material rollout. I get a blue bar but nothing changes.

What am I missing?

Hi,

First, let me mention that the Material Optimizer tool is designed mainly to Apply Forest Color, Disable Filtering for Opacity Maps, and Apply Forest Edge map(s). It's not meant to be a complex material converter between render engines. That said, I'm afraid that the Physical Material > Corona (CoronaPhysicalMtl) conversion isn't supported. However, in the case of bundled presets, you can directly load the corresponding material by using the Corona option (also, the Automatic Selector should automatically pick the correct material version) when importing the preset from the library.

I hope that helps.

Best regards,

Hey Michael,

Good to know. I had tried that automatic selector in RailClone and it still just makes a standard material, both for Corona and Arnold.

On Max2024.

Thanks for your swift reply. That will most probably be linked to the evaluation of the Automatic Selector "macro", which should identify the currently used renderer. Please check the Library Browser Options window (Library Browser - File - Preferences...) where, under System Macros, you can find the renderer value - a screenshot would be ideal. Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
