Save edited FP as new preset with Vray material..?
« on: February 11, 2025, 12:43:10 PM »
Hi there,

I am currently trying to make a new preset from an existing FP (Pic 01), where I have edited an existing one according to this tutorial on Grass edges:

https://www.itoosoft.com/tutorials/how-to-create-realistic-grass-edges-using-forest-effects?back=page%3D4%26tag%3Dforestpack

I have saved/exported the new preset including all elements and folders, maps, matlibs, objects, thumbnail and index file.

When trying to use the preset in a new 3ds Max file it is missing the material that I have changed (although present in the FP file). A material path is missing in the FP preset preference (Pic 02), but when I try inserting one it does not work either.

Could you perhaps point me in the right direction...

Thanks in advance,

Arin

Hi Arin,

I'm sorry to hear that you are facing trouble with it. Could you send us the corresponding library files so we can check them on our end? Thanks in advance.

Hi Michal,

Thanks for a quick response. I have sent a wetransfer with the preset in question to helpdesk@itoosoft.com.

Thanks,

Arin

Thanks for your quick reply. For some reason, the material library Grass_w_Edge_Colering.mat doesn't contain any materials. Could you go through the Import Objects process again and ensure that the Create Material Library and Overwrite existing Library options are enabled?

Thanks in advance for any additional details.

Hi Michal,

I have tried importing the object again with settings as adviced, but still no luck.

I have included the newly imported FP preset files/folders in a wetransfer, and an archive of the file I am exporting from, hopefully including all elements..?

The image below shows import settings used... - with no materials added?

Thanks again,

Arin

Hi Michal,

Thanks for the modified file. Unfortunately, it seems not to give the same result. Where my original file has the border changed, this one makes an even distribution over the surface.

Perhaps you can get in touch when your developers have had the chance to get a look into it?

Thanks again,

Arin

Hi Arin,

This is related to the Scale by Exclude Boundary effect, which doesn't load its curves correctly when imported from the preset. To fix it, you can reimport it from the effects library. Our main developers are looking into this.

Hi Michal,

Thanks. An amazing job you guys are doing with the plugin!

I will try out the reimport from effects library.

Best regards,

Arin
