Surface direction no work with CAD data
« on: February 05, 2014, 10:37:10 AM »

I'm scattering grass onto an area of sloping geometry and notice the grass looks great on the level surface, but as we move up the slope the grass stays on a level plane, and doesn't adjust to suit the sloping surface.

I have experimented with the 'Scale to fit sloped areas' with no joy

The geometry for the model has been exported as a 3DS file from ArchiCAD and is then brought into 3DSMax 2014, which we do every day with the building models.

If I re model the sloping surface in Max the 'Scale to fit sloped areas' works perfectly. This can be done, but is obviously time consuming. Anything you can do to have this work with CAD geometry?

It seems a problem with the surface normals, which is typical with imported terrains from external applications.

Please, search the posts about normals in the forum. There are several ways to fix it.
