Hi!
When I load a scene from my NAS and try to pick a plant preset in Forest Ivy I get this error:

Error loading portable material library from "C:\Users\anima\AppData\Local\Itoo Software\Forest Pack Pro\lib\ForestIvy\Climbing Plants\matlibs\climbing_plants_@iTooLibraryFunctions.ms:getRenderer().pmat"

Error opening portable material library C:\Users\anima\AppData\Local\Itoo Software\Forest Pack Pro\lib\ForestIvy\Climbing Plants\matlibs\climbing_plants_@iTooLibraryFunctions.ms:getRenderer().pmat
(Could not open material library file).
Error loading portable material library from "C:\Users\anima\AppData\Local\Itoo Software\Forest Pack Pro\lib\ForestIvy\Climbing Plants\matlibs\climbing_plants_@iTooLibraryFunctions.ms:getRenderer().pmat"

Error opening portable material library C:\Users\anima\AppData\Local\Itoo Software\Forest Pack Pro\lib\ForestIvy\Climbing Plants\matlibs\climbing_plants_@iTooLibraryFunctions.ms:getRenderer().pmat
(Could not open material library file).

If I put the same file on my local drive (C:) and open it from there, everything works pefectly.

Hi Tobias,

It seems that the getRenderer() function from the iTooLibraryFunctions.ms script doesn't seem to be executed properly, which is causing the Automatic Selector to struggle with choosing the correct material version. Manually selecting the appropriate material version should work just fine.

Could you clarify how you moved these libraries? Did you do it manually, or did you follow the method explained here?

Thank you in advance for any additional insights or comments you can share on this issue. Your feedback will be helpful not only to us but also to our user community, in case others encounter similar problems.

Best regards,

Tobias Jansson

Hi!

I did not move any libraries, everything installed without changing any paths or other settings. The only files that resides on my NAS are the .max files and it seems this only happens with files that uses Forest Pack already, in this case ver8. I created a fresh simple scene and saved it to my NAS and this scene did not have any problems. But as I explained earlier, copying/moving the troublesome .max files to my local drive solves this problem :)
Anyway, I'm a long time user and would like to take the oppertunity to thank you for an awesome product!

We're experiencing this bug as well, even if the max file is on local PC
We're using VRay7 latest version

Windows 10 Pro
Max 2022
Latest FP
Latest VRay
everything default installs

the workaround of selecting the renderer in the material dropdwon works, but its a little annoying

Please, double-check you are using the latest version of the Climbing Plants library (9.0.5). If so, would you mind giving this a shot to see if it helps?
  • Go to Scripting > Run Script... and open the forest_utils.ms file from this location:
    C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\ForestPackPro202x\Contents\scripts\startup.
  • Press F11 to open the MAXScript Listener and check for any error messages.
Thanks in advance for any further comments on this issue you can share with us.
