Animated padding and Vantage
« on: August 28, 2025, 08:27:06 pm »
I have hit up the Chaos side of things also but I just wanted ask. I have built a train line in RC. I have animated the "Padding" start and it works beautiful on the max side. Train build runs down the spline. When I go to Vantage, this build either only shows up as boxes or doesn't show up at all. When I delete the key frames the RC shows up in Vantage with no issues.

Does anyone know if this is RC thing or a Vantage thing. Are we suppose to have "Use Instancing Engine" off or on? I have tried both animating the Spline Properties where you can check on or off the "Full Length" and control the start and I also as mentioned put it into parameter for the Padding Start. I am not the most advanced user with RC but is there maybe a different way to animate the RC build down a spline where Vantage will not have issues?

Thanks in advance
Murph

Hi Murph,

Please find attached a sample test scene with a possible style setup that appears to work correctly when using Live Link from 3ds Max. I hope this helps.

Well, I thought this had worked, but once I put key frames and animated the trains, it renders them as boxes in Vantage and some other strange bugs.

Keyframes and no keyframes, Vantage just doesn't like these things moving lol
