clone on surface
« on: January 26, 2024, 09:21:47 AM »
Hi :)
Performs modeling for a standard building and tries to find a way to duplicate an element according to a baseline and which will duplicate itself according to some manipulative form,
of course the element should behave according to a correct and fixed orientation according to X Y Z, such as the facade of a building.
Something similar to the ability of V-ray Enmesh Modifire
I didn't succeed with ARRAY modifire ... and I would be very happy if Railclone is capable of this.
I attached a file. (Please save for the 2024 version)

Thanks !

Hi,

In RailClone, the geometry is projected along the RC object's local Z-axis until it intersects with the surface's geometry. This means that it works best when the face normal points towards the RC object. Any polygons with faces pointing away or overlapping will not work well. Sometimes, you can work around this issue by splitting the surface and using multiple RC objects with different orientations. Additionally, as mentioned in this related post, you can use the SlideKnit script, which allows you to flatten the surface, apply the high-poly object, and then morph the surface back to its original shape, deforming the geometry in the process.

I hope this helps a bit.

Best regards,

Hi,
Thank you very much for your reply.
However it feels very complicated for me. Unless there was a tutorial on this matter that would show otherwise.
I think RC Plugin as its level - should know how to do it according to simple parameters of shape and element for replication.
In other softwares like Rhino or Blender it's very simple...
Hope we see it soon
