creating curved structures
« on: March 25, 2014, 10:57:47 AM »
Hello,

I'm trying to achieve something similar to attached image in railclone with no result. I'm using Array 2S and two splines to define curvature, but can only obtain result in one direction or another, not in both at same time. Any ideas about making something like that?

Hi,

Thanks for the query. Unfortunately I cannot see a way to easily recreate that type of rig in RailClone as it would involve being able to adjust the sub objects of the source geometry from inside RailClone. As an alternative, if the curve pattern repeats it might be possible to create a series of pre curved planks (in my example, attached,  I used a skin modifier to maintain parametric control) then simply add them as a segments to RailClone.

Hope that helps,

Thanks,

Paul

Thanks for your efforts on it. Unfortunately the complete hood doesn't have a pattern, I was thinking in use a spline to define all "waves". There's no need on further control once defined so I think I'll go for something like parametric array for this.
