custom Materials on Preset Libary Objects
« on: February 21, 2023, 06:22:04 PM »
Hi Guys,

I am wondering, how I may change the default materials when creating object out of library.
So, that they are already attached when created. (I can reassign, yes, but that's not what I want to)

Purpose: the Materials on vray are a bit outdated. There is no GTX Feature (on metals especially) and on options / Cutoff, there is an old value  "0.01" but is has now been set to 0,001. This leads to some cutoff from reflection, visible under some circumstances while rendering. I think the significant users are at least on Vray next, if not even still on 5 and 6 is out now. These settings still belong to Vray 3 and that's a bit outdated, or am I wrong? So I wonder, how I can fix this and are proper changed to actual settings, when creating objects from the library.

best regards,
Kay

Hi Kay,

Sure, please feel free to adjust these, just let me mention, that you should create a copy of these presets and edit this copy. If not, your changes might be overwritten by future Forest updates.

For some presets, there‘s the "general matlib library" placed under the following folder:

..\Itoo Software\Forest Pack Pro\matlib

These material libraries store materials for "older" presets - "newer" presets come with corresponding libraries in their folder structure. For example, the "newer" Layered Lawns presets (..\Itoo Software\Forest Pack Pro\lib\Presets\Layered_Lawns) store these materials under:

..\Itoo Software\Forest Pack Pro\lib\Presets\Layered_Lawns\matlibs

but "older" Lawns presets (\Itoo Software\Forest Pack Pro\lib\Presets\Lawns) store these in the main matlib folder:

..\Itoo Software\Forest Pack Pro\matlib

(the ..\Itoo Software\Forest Pack Pro\lib\Presets\Lawns\matlibs is empty)

I hope that helps.

Best regards,
