Custom tile configuration by an absolute novice

I have owned Railclone for about 6 years now, and i am still hopeless. Thought i would reach out for help.

Client would like a French Pattern tile configuration for their bathroom. I have attached the 'tile layout' pattern that needs to be repeated.
I have been trying to follow along to this tutorial

but i have deadset, got no idea. It all started unravelling at step 7. i have also attached my 3dsmax file... showing where it has all gone pearshaped.

Anyway. If anyone can give me some guidance of how to create this pattern, i would be most grateful. To be honest, I'm never going to learn this program. Perhaps i should just pay someone. Is there a market for that? desperate times.
