Distributed Render wrong placement
« on: March 29, 2017, 11:54:29 AM »
Hello,
So I encountered a frustrating behavior.
Railclone distributes elements along a spline and limited per ID 2. So far so good. Placement in viewport seems correct.
The segments are "VrayProxy" with a custom preview mesh with exactly the same size as the loaded mesh.

Locally it renders fine.
DR looks like the attached.

Any idea what might cause this?
I can't isolate this behavior in a fresh scene. It happens only in full scale projects. Once I "save-selected" it render just fine.

Just to mention its not missing geometry, it is just misplaced.
If I render solely with the nodes (without the local machine) it looks fine... except placed wrong.

Hi,

No, similar problems have not been reported. Also it's strange because for RailClone there is not difference between local and DR nodes.

Does it happen replacing the VRayProxy for a standard mesh ?
Did you check that DR nodes use same RC version than local workstation ?
Do you use Standard V-Ray or RT ?

Its does not happen with standard mesh but in this case I am forced to use VrayProxy.
All DR nodes use the same versions of Windows, Max, V-Ray, RC etc.
It happens with standard V-Ray. Not RT.

But running "Railclone Tools" via Utilities tab on the RC object worked fine and everything now renders correctly.

Also I have another unrelated question.
I made some styles and added them to the RC library. Some of them, when merged to a new scene have an XREF material applied.. is there a way to avoid this?

Ok, we'll do some tests with DR nodes and proxies, to see if there is some problem.

Okay thank you :)
And what about the XREF material thing? is there a way around it?
