Faceted Distorted Reflections on Curved Surfaces
« on: May 24, 2024, 11:37:14 PM »
I have a curved glass wall made from simple panes of glass in RailClone.  When I render in VRay, the reflections are faceted.  I have tried many things to resolve this.  Making very high poly versions of the base geometry, increasing the interpolation on the base spline. I've tried different materials, a vertex weld modifier, a smooth modifier, a normal modifier. None of it works.  If I manually create the wall without RailClone then its fine.  Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?

Hi,

Adding a Smooth modifier with the Auto Smooth option enabled on top of the RailClone object to reassign Smoothing Groups should help. But as you've mentioned, if that's not working in your case, feel free to send us your scene - preferably simplified and containing only the problematic object(s). Ideally, if you can reproduce it in a minimal scene, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
