iToo Licenses
« on: October 28, 2019, 06:49:55 PM »
We are having some issues with getting iToo licenses when working remote from the office. We connect back through our system using Direct Connect and all other licenses come through, except for iToo licenses. Even off the same same license server that has our Vray and iToo licenses, we get the Vray license. So we can access that server remotely. I can also ping the server when remote. It is as if something higher up is blocking the license. I've even added in the ports both in Windows firewall incoming/outgoing and to my router at home.

Our IT dept is saying that Direct Connect relies on IPv6, does the iToo license server access that?

I'm not proficiently technical on the remote licensing aspect of our office, so I'm having to give out information presented to me. I do apologize if anything is incomplete.

No, our license server doesn't use IPv6. It uses standard IPv4 in the following ports:

TCP Port 16720
UDP Port 16720

And the UPD is used only to discover the License Server, when client is configured as "Automatic". If you configure the server IP directly, only the TCP 16720 is required.

I hope that helps.

Thank you for your help! Are there any future plans to allow it over IPv6? As it stands now, our remote users will not be able to access our iToo licenses while on our direct connect connection. We do have a vpn connection that they can use to get the licenses, but it is an extra step that in the future we would like to avoid.

No, i'm sorry. Actually we have not plans to support IPv6.
This would change if we receive more requests about it, but actually IPv6 is barely used between our customers.

Sorry for the bump of an old topic, but considering all of the working from home. Is there any update on possibly providing IPv6 support for the license servers?

Just wanted to let my voice be heard in this issue too. We are a team of 7 people not able to use the FP and RC license via our direct acces when working from home due to the IPv6 issue. So while our IT department is working on a new VPN that doesn't throw us off the network drives, we had hoped you might have looked in to this due to the covid pandemic and many people working from home now? :)
