Marker Segment as Base Line Breaker
« on: June 28, 2023, 12:11:24 PM »
Would it be possible for marker segments to act as Base Spline Breakers?
The idea is to break the Base Spline at the start and end position of the Marker Segment.
Now, we have XSectionAdjustedLength and we can use it for nesting but still, it will be very convenient if would be possible to break a Base Spline so we can have more flexibility on the Master Generator Level.
As I understand at the start evaluation you are converting Base Spline to poly spline so maybe something could be done on this matter.
Best Regards

Hi Dragan,

Big thanks for all your feedback. That’s a very specific request as Markers aren't intended for this kind of purpose. We'll think about it, but it might look for some users quite complex.

Best regards,

Yes. maybe, but this could enable "nesting" Marker Geometry on the generator's Top Level, and as I understand reading posts regarding the markers users often expected that kind of behavior.
Now when placing Marker's geometry it would just insert into the default line without breaking it or/and shifting eg. evenly distribution as most users would expect.
So I would not insist on the real breaking of the Base Spline but only an additional workflow option for the Marker segment act as it breaks the Spline.
It is important because we can use Null Marker`s geometry to create empty spaces for a "parallel" generator to fill in (this is a well know and good technique). If it would act as a real "breaker" we could have active Eveny/Start/End distribution especially when changing the X size for those Null Marker Geometry.
For Carlos this is just a simple checkbox - AFFECT THE GENERATOR - right before the User Data fields (and then we can even choose which marker will be active as a real separator!!!)  8) ;D
