Corner Segment not slicing or replacing the Default segment
« on: October 06, 2017, 02:46:44 PM »
Hi,
I'm trying to create a simple building with one Default Segment for the building and one specifik Corner Segment to add a bit of more detail for the corners and being able to contorl it better. But the corner segment is just stuck into the wall, it does not replace the default segment, just sits ontop of it, or rather inside it in this case. I've tried fiddling with this Corner Rules to get it to work, but no matter what settings I mix it does not help.

I have attached some images to explain better.

rc1_Parts shows the spline object and my two buildiing segments with the Pivot point alignment showing.

rc2_StyleAndResault shows the style setup and the resulting weird placement of the corner meshes.

rc3_FixedRotationNoSlicing shows how changing the Transform (position and rotation) of the Corner segment moves it into the correct place, but still there is no slicing so the corner segments just sits there inside the Default segment.

What is going on, how to I fix this?

I've attached the Max-file as well, it's using Max 2016 and RailClone 2.6

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Realigning Pivot Points for used Segments as shown on attached screen-shots fixes it. Attaching the modified scene too. Hope that helps.

Best regards,

Alright, that worked! :)

But I want to use the spline to define the outer boundery of the building. Right now the building on both sides of the spline, 6 meter in both directions. I want everything inside the spline rectangle, that's why I place the pivot point next to the wall rather then in the middle. I tied adding a fixed transform offset instead, but that gives the same problem, the Default Segments are not being sliced. Is there a way achive this?

One more question: is there a section in the manual for how to properly align Pivot points for your segment geometries for getting the correct effect?

Hi,

Glad to hear, that it helped. It's possible to readjust the alignment to the base spline by the Y Offset value (if wanted, it can be exported and driven by for example by the experted Y Size attribute of used segment). Hope that helps.

Best regadrs,
