Multiple Monitors
« on: May 20, 2025, 09:58:58 pm »
I work on multiple monitors as i am sure everyone does. Is there a way where the railclone style editor comes up on a different screen rather than the primary monitor?

Hi,

The Style Editor window's size and position are stored in the following system registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Itoo Software\RailClone\Style Editor

I’ve done some quick tests using a secondary monitor, and it appears to behave correctly — the size & position is successfully restored.

Thanks in advance for any additional details you can provide - your feedback is always valuable, both for us and for other users who might encounter similar issues.

When you say "behave correctly" do you mean it pops up on a different monitor? not your primary? Thanks

Yes, based on my tests, once the Style Editor window is positioned and closed on the second monitor, it correctly reopens in the same location (on the second monitor) — even for new RailClone objects.

Could you please briefly describe the behavior you're experiencing on your system? Does the position reset with every new RailClone object, after a 3ds Max reset, or following a system reboot? Also, please let us know your software configuration - specifically your OS, 3ds Max, and RailClone versions. Thanks in advance for any additional details you can provide.

Best regards,

Sorry for the late response. It resets with every new railclone and also when I click the open style editor button. Always pops up on the main monitor. I am running max 2025.3 with V-ray 7 Hotfix 2. Railclone 7.0.8. OS Windows 10.0.19045

Could you please perform the following test?
  • Delete the contents of: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Itoo Software\RailClone\Style Editor
  • Open 3ds Max and create a new RailClone object.
  • Open the Style Editor and move it to the desired position on your secondary monitor.
  • Close 3ds Max and send us a screenshot showing the content of the registry key mentioned above.
  • Also, please provide a screenshot showing your monitor's resolution and their relative positions. You can find this under: Windows > Settings > System > Display > Multiple displays.
Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
