Nested Railclone causes 3dsMax to crash with VRay GPU
« on: November 22, 2025, 02:27:27 am »
Hello,

I had been working for the past 3 years with nested railclone objects in 3dsMax 2021 and rendering them with VRay 6 GPU without any issues. I recently updated to 3dsMax 2025 and VRay 7 and the nested objects cause 3dsMax to crash when I try to render. Any thoughts?
I can revert to VRay 6 and see if it works, but I thought I might ask here before doing that.

Sample scene is attached.

Thank you.

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing these issues. We've run some quick tests with your scene on our end, and it renders correctly with the latest versions of 3ds Max, RC, and V-Ray. Are you encountering this problem during production rendering, or only in interactive rendering (IPR)?

Could you please save and send us the minidump file of the crash? Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Hello,

Minidump file is attached.
The problem happens both during production and Interactive renderings.
We have the latest RC and V-Ray versions; however, we are running 3ds Max 2025.
Many thanks
