Problem with window tutorial - newbie question
« on: July 03, 2023, 02:34:21 PM »
Hi,

I while ago I created some parametric windows following this tutorial https://www.itoosoft.com/tutorials/parameterise-windows?utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_campaign=tutorial&utm_term=railclone

Now I tried to reuse them, but the windows are only working when the clipping path is facing in the same direction as the tutorial, but when I try to rotate the paths 90 degrees the windows disappear.
I also tried to download the final result from the tutorial, but I get the same problem there. Not sure why I can't get it to work. https://www.itoosoft.com/download/railclone_parameterising_windows_tutorial

I'm using railclone 6.07 and Max 2023

Hi,

You can use the Base Object > Realign feature, or the "Auto Align" option within the Extend X/Y Size to Area mode should help you with this task. This option creates an array aligned automatically with each sub-spline. This mode is very suitable for roofs and panels. Two modes are available. For both modes, the Z axis is always perpendicular to the plane formed by the spline. a) "X --> XY": X axis is parallel to the RailClone XY plane (considering the local axis of the object). b) "to Spline": X axis is aligned with the first Spline segment (you can use the "Make first" vertex and "Reverse" spline to modify alignment). I would suggest you check the related "Creating Roofs with RailClone" for more detailed info and recommendable techniques.

I hope that helps.

Best regards,
