Rail clone nested insertion point?
« on: December 24, 2014, 08:45:55 PM »
Grocery Store aisle Rail Clone object consists of different products going on shelving.
The shelving is made and works well as its own Railcone.  I can make it any length I need.  The products are made as individual rail clones so I can adjust the items missing and work well.
I created each set of products as a rail clone and nested it into an array using sequence to arrange all the products.

I decided to add some flexibility to the set by adding the product price labels to each of the product rail clones which created a problem since the labels are below the products.

Here is the issue:   When adding the product price labels it changes the insertion point on the sequence railclone. So depending on turning on on off the price labels I have to adjust the insertion z offset manually.  It there a way to fix this?   Is it possible to set the z axis and if I add an item into a railclone that is nested it wont change in the main clone in the z axis?

I could easily see adding other things to the individual product railclones that could be turned on and off... I just need the z axis constant so the products rest on the shelving properly no matter what is turned on and off.

Depending how you created the products RailClone, would be several ways to keep it aligned at the same point (using arithmetic expressions and so).
But, what about creating a separated Generator for the labels ? In this way, it will not affect the products alignment.
