stepped deform mode in groups
« on: February 04, 2025, 12:31:21 PM »
Hi,

I have a featherboard fence set up where the boards are individual, rather than one object per panel (as panel lengths vary in smaller areas etc.) When applied to a surface the structure is set to stepped so it steps down each panel. How can I make the boards follow suit rather than stepping each one and therefore extending out of the top and bottom?

Thanks!!

Hi,

Thanks for the question. Please take a look at the attached file. I've nested the Pickets Generator inside the Posts Rails generator as a default segment. I've also combined it with the existing Railings segment using a Compose operator. The X Size of both of those is set using an expression that finds the available space on a spline section, as follows:

return Posts_Rails.XSectionAdjustedLength;

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any further questions.

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul,

That's fantastic thanks. Great service as always! I've learned a lot from that as well.
