uvw pulling on scaled segments
« on: November 15, 2023, 11:52:49 AM »
Hi there,
I have a problem. I have made a nice floor style  - a so called Dutch pattern parqet floor.
I am using one box as base segment, and for maximum flexibility I then scale the box to fit the various boards in the layout.
The problem is that when scaling the segment, it pulls the UVW mapping, despiste I have set the segments mapping to "Apply Box Mapping" and "Real World Map Size".
I was thinking that by putting on this setting, it would apply an unstretched UVW mapping in the end, but apparently not?
I know I can just make it by make the boards as separat segments in the right size, but then I have lost the flexibility.
Any workaround on this  - or if not, would you consider making it possible to add an unstressed UVW map to scaled objects?

Thanks,

Hi Lars,

Which rendering engine are you using? I would suggest disabling the Display > Render > Use Instancing Engine option to see if there's any difference. Let me mention that some of the features are "fully supported" only in the case of the V-Ray rendering engine (as you can see in the Feature Compatibility table) and for the rest of the renderers it can be solved by disabling the instancing engine.

Best regards,

Ajjjj!! Elementary!! - Switching off Instancing did the trick!!
I should had known this!!!

I'm using Corona  - and to my excuse,  - didn't you announce some half year ago,  that by Corona 10 the instancing issues should be solved??
If not, are there any hope that it will be solved at some point?

Thanks, Lars
